Description
Grated cheese potato bake is a creamy, cheesy casserole perfect for hearty family meals or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
– 6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
– 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tbsp butter
– 1 tsp salt
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping.
3. Sprinkle half of the grated cheddar and Parmesan cheeses over the potatoes.
4. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat gently without boiling.
5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the layered potatoes.
6. Add the remaining potato slices, followed by the remaining cheese.
7. Pour the rest of the cream mixture over the top.
8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
9. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
– For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits between layers.
– Use Gruyère cheese for a more gourmet touch.
– Ensure potatoes are sliced evenly for consistent cooking.
