Ingredients
  

  • - 6 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • - 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • - 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • - 1 cup heavy cream
  • - 2 cloves garlic minced
  • - 2 tbsp butter
  • - 1 tsp salt
  • - 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • - 1/4 tsp nutmeg optional

Instructions
 

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • 2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, slightly overlapping.
  • 3. Sprinkle half of the grated cheddar and Parmesan cheeses over the potatoes.
  • 4. In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat gently without boiling.
  • 5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the layered potatoes.
  • 6. Add the remaining potato slices, followed by the remaining cheese.
  • 7. Pour the rest of the cream mixture over the top.
  • 8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  • 9. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits between layers.
- Use Gruyère cheese for a more gourmet touch.
- Ensure potatoes are sliced evenly for consistent cooking.
